Romantics Anonymous opens The Winter Selection at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse...

Emma Rice may be leaving her position as Artistic Director of The Globe next year, but she's still bringing a whole host of exciting new shows to the theatre in the time she has left! They have just announced the 2017 winter season in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, entitled "The Winter Selection". Opening the season will be ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS, a new musical directed by Emma Rice, with book written by Emma Rice, lyrics by Christopher Dimond, and music by Michael Kooman, presented by special arrangement with Radio Mouse Entertainment. Read all the info below...

‘Add a few ingredients
Bold, and brave, and new.
Don’t you love how chocolate
is so unlike you?’

"Angélique makes beautiful chocolates, carefully infused with all the emotion that seems to overwhelm her in daily life. Jean-René runs a chocolate factory that is running out of steam, rather like his own existence. Both seek help from the usual sources: Jean-René favours self-help tapes and Angélique joins a support group, Les Émotifs Anonymes.

Romantics Anonymous is an unusual and tender love story in which the obstacles to happiness are not the usual external barriers, but those sneaky little ones we know all too intimately: the ones within."

The show will run Friday 20 October 2017 – Saturday 6 January 2018
Press Night: Friday 27 October

Adapted by Emma Rice from the French-Belgian film Les Émotifs Anonymes, with lyrics and music by Christopher Dimond and Michael Kooman, this new musical promises to be a treat for all the senses. Filled with all the joy and pain it takes to survive and love in the modern world, this is a tale that will lift any heart.
