Producers have announced an extension for the West End transfer of original British musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The award-winning production, first seen in Sheffield in spring 2017, opened at London’s Apollo Theatre in November and had been due to run until 21 April – it is now taking bookings through to 6 October 2018. Tickets for the new period are now on sale.

As well as receiving rave reviews, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie won the UK Theatre Awards for Best Musical Production and Best Performance in A Musical for John McCrea.  Everybody’s Talking About Jamie also won the Attitude Culture Award 2017, and Dan Gillespie-Sells won the Best Composer Award for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Stage Debut Awards. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is also nominated for four WhatsOnStage Awards: Best Actor in a Musical for John McCrea, Best Actress in a Musical for Josie Walker, Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for Lucie Shorthouse and Best New Musical.

Fairy tales really do come true. Jamie New is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. Jamie doesn’t quite fit in. Jamie is terrified about the future. Jamie is going to be a sensation.

Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight. Sixteen: the edge of possibility. Time to make your dreams come true.

This “fabulous, funny, feelgood brand new musical sensation” has new songs by lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling Dan Gillespie Sells and writer Tom MacRae. It’s directed and conceived by Jonathan Butterell, who saw the Firecracker documentary film Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, which is the story of Jamie Campbell and his mother Margaret, and was inspired him to create this fictionalised musical.

John McCrea tajes the title role of Jamie alongside Josie Walker as his Mum. They’re joined in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie by: Daniel Anthony (Levi), Mina Anwar (Rayia ‘Ray’ Begum), Luke Baker (Dean Paxton), Courtney Bowman (Fatimah), Tamsin Carroll (Miss Hedge), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Harriet Payne (Bex), Shiv Rabheru (Cy), Lucie Shorthouse (Pritti Pasha) and Kirstie Skivington (Vicki) along with Alex Anstey (Laika Virgin), Luke Bayer, Marvyn Charles, Ken Christiansen (Jamie’s Dad), Jordan Cunningham (Sayid), Ryan Hughes (Mickey), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Cherelle Jay, Rebecca McKinnis, Phil Nichol (Hugo), Chloe Pole and Lauran Rae (Becca).
