Who's taking part in this year's Oliviers?

It’s the biggest occasion in the theatre industry calendar and, slowly but surely, we are finding out which artists will be presenting those life-changing 2018 Olivier Awards this Sunday 8 April at the Royal Albert Hall.

There’s plenty more news to come about Sunday’s ceremony, held at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Catherine Tate, but musical theatre fans will be keen to know which performers from which shows are definitely going to be strolling down the Red Carpet.

Presenters will include US musical theatre legend Chita Rivera and Andy Karl (Olivier Award 2017 winner for his performance in Groundhog Day) who will also be performing the iconic West Side Story track ‘Somewhere’ on Sunday with Adam J Bernard (Olivier Award 2017 winner for his performance in Dreamgirls) and the Arts Educational Schools London Choir to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the production debuting in London.

And Rivera isn’t the only popular American from the musical theatre world who we will be seeing more of at the Olivier Awards. American actress Patti LuPone – due to make her first West End musical appearance in 25 years in the upcoming production of Company at the Gielgud Theatre – will be there, as will composer Jason Robert Brown who will be performing a one-off concert at the London Palladium on 11 April alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Not to mention all three actresses currently alternating the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre (Marisha Wallace, Moya Angela, Karen Mav); Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr (starring as Billy Flynn in Chicago at the Phoenix); and popular actress Beverley Knight.

If you need a reminder of how to catch up with all the action from the awards, The Biggest Night In British Theatre: The Olivier Awards will be broadcast on ITV on Sunday 8 April from 10.20pm and worldwide at the same time, outside the UK, on the Olivier Awards Facebook page. Plus the entire show will be live on Magic Radio, hosted by Alice Arnold and Olivier Award-winner Ruthie Henshall, with build-up on air from 6pm.
