Only a few days (or are you already counting the hours) to the 2017 Olivier Awards ceremony this Sunday (9 April) at the Royal Albert Hall, but today we want to wind the clock back rather than forward. Do you remember just how much excitement was generated on the opening nights of the Best New Musical nominees: DREAMGIRLS, THE GIRLS, GROUNDHOG DAY and SCHOOL OF ROCK.

Which show will you be cheering for on Sunday night? Let us know your #WinnersWishList and support your favourite #StageFaves! Don’t forget you can find all social media for the awards and the 2017 nominated musicals and musical theatre performers on our dedicated Olivier Awards #StageFaves page.

So time to turn the clock back…

In November 2016, the terrific young stars of SCHOOL OF ROCK took us behind the scenes at their first preview…

The glittering and glamorous DREAMGIRLS opening night was the perfect pre-Christmas pickup back in December 2016…

More recently, in February 2017, there were sunflowers galore and a special curtain-call performance from Gary Barlow at the star-studded gala night of THE GIRLS...

And finally… GROUNDHOG DAY enjoyed a critically acclaimed (and all-too-short) premiere season in London back in the summer of 2016 and has since hopped over the pond to Broadway. But just to remind us how live theatre always throws up surprises, check out what happened at the first preview of the Broadway show this March…

The show must go on! Our #StageFaves team have come up with 9 ways to prepare for the big night and there’s still plenty of time left to get ready before the #OlivierAwards on Sunday! See you on the red carpet…
