Nikita Johal steps up from ensemble to play the female lead in Broken Wings...

Like the plot of, well, a musical! With around a week to go before the first semi-staged run of BROKEN WINGS at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, ensemble member Nikita Johal stepped into the female lead role of Selma after Hiba Elchikhe had to drop out for personal reasons. But Nikita is a leading lady in her own right, having already starred in a recent production of SPRING AWAKENING...

With just over a week until opening night, there was a major cast change to the eagerly awaited West End premiere of BROKEN WINGS! Nikita Johal, fresh from playing the lead role of Wendla in the acclaimed SPRING AWAKENING at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre, replaced Hiba Elchikhe (Princess Jasmine in the Australian production of Disney’s "Aladdin") as Selma.

Nadim Naaman, who co-wrote the show, said "It feels wonderful to have promoted from within the company, she is an amazing talent and we are delighted that Broken Wings will mark her West End debut.”

And it seems like it's not just the creatives who Nikita is impressing! Her co-sar Rob Houchen had this to say about her...

And check out Nikita doing her thing with the cast of SPRING AWAKENING which had an awesome revival recently in Manchester. We reckon there'll be a little less teenage angst and swearing in BROKEN WINGS, but we can't wait to see her put her own stamp on Selma! What a fantastic way to make your West End debut. Certainly one to tell the grandkids about...
