Even after two hugely successful seasons in 2016 and 2017, it was still hard to say our farewells to Regent’s Park’s memorable staging of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Now we are looking forward to welcoming it back next year when it transfers to the Barbican Theatre for 60 performances from 4 July to 24 August.

Earlier this year the production, which won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical, played the Lyric Opera of Chicago and it embarks on a North American tour in the autumn of 2019.

Jesus Chris Superstar is directed by Timothy Sheader, with choreography by Drew McOnie, design by Tom Scutt, musical direction by Tom Deering, lighting design by Lee Curran and sound design by Nick Lidster for Autograph.

Casting information will be announced in due course. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s 2019 season will be announced later this month.
