Another must-watch for musical theatre fans. The latest broadcast on Andrew Lloyd Webber's lockdown The Shows Must Go On freeview YouTube channel is the award-winning Australian production of The Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies.

Hot on the heels of last week’s streaming of the 25th-anniversary production of The Phantom of the Opera, the streaming schedule for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s free-to-view YouTube Channel The Shows Must Go On, will continue this Friday with a broadcast of its sequel Love Never Dies.

For 48 hours from 7pm this Friday 24 April 2020, fans can watch the show for free – essential weekend viewing.

Love Never Dies had its world premiere at London’s Adelphi Theatre in 2010. The broadcast is of the revised 2011/2 Australian production that was mounted in Melbourne and Sydney, starring Ben Lewis as the Phantom and Anna O’Byrne as Christine.

Love Never Dies continues the story of The Phantom of the Opera… featuring one of Lloyd Webber’s finest musical scores performed by a 21-piece orchestra, a cast of 36, over 300 costumes and a set illuminated by over 5000 dazzling light bulbs.

The year is 1907. It is ten years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island.

In this new electrically-charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar. All that is missing is his love – Christine Daaé.

Now one of the world’s finest sopranos, Christine is struggling in an ailing marriage to Raoul. So, it is with excitement she accepts an invitation to travel to New York and perform at a renowned opera house. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan, to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island… not knowing what is in store for them….

The production is directed by Simon Phillips, with set and costume designs by Gabriela Tylesova and choreography by Graeme Murphy. Love Never Dies was the winner of three of Australia’s prestigious Helpmann Awards for Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design and Best Lighting Design.

The Shows Must Go On YouTube channel provides musical theatre lovers with a West End and Broadway experience in their own homes, online for free during the coronavirus crisis while theatres around the world are dark. Alongside the full-length shows, clips of famous performances and behind-the-scenes footage are uploaded regularly to the channel. Further productions are to be announced.
