Born in Miami, Florida, from Cuban parents, Christie Prades grew up attending and graduating from Southwest Senior High School in 2009. Heavily involved in the arts and athletics, Christie performed in countless school functions and productions, from annual dance shows to singing contests, to seasonal sporting events. Christie was also a part of Southwest’s Student Council and helped organize all school events. It was clear this multi-talented, triple-threat did it all. Graduating from the Honors College in Miami Dade (the same college Emilio Estefan graduated from), she earned her degree in Mass Communications, but always had her heart set on all spectrums of the arts.
She began interning at a prestigious recording studio in Miami, under the eye of producer Adrian Santalla. The bilingual vocalist began co-writing songs and creating background vocals for multiple artists who came to record. Christie has booked multiple national commercials, as well as roles appearing on breakthrough shows including Orange is the New Black.
Prior to that, she began her theatre career as the role of Vanessa in the Miami production of the Tony-award winning show In the Heights. The Miami native decided to take her talents to the Big Apple where she worked in other regional productions including re-starring in In the Heights (American Stage Theatre) as well as West Side Story (Actors Playhouse). Not long after, Christie began working in the Broadway production of On Your Feet! as the first cover for the role of Gloria Estefan, as well as a Swing, covering 7 different roles. Since the beginning of her time on Broadway, Christie has performed in multiple promotional events for the show, one event being in her hometown of Miami where she was asked by Gloria Estefan herself, if she would lead the tour.
