Is it a bed? Or a boat? Or a giant slice of toast? For Naz and Iggy and their eight friends, their bed is a place where imagination can fill their tummies with tasty treats and take them to familiar warm places. Well, sometimes.
Join the boat-bed’s disparate crew as they dream up playful tales of pirates, misunderstood sharks and fishing trips that hook some unexpected catches. But what happens if the bed is not big enough to fit everyone in? How do they decide who gets to stay and who has to go?
This humorous and inventive new show celebrates the power of imaginary play and proves there’s always enough room to have fun, even when the world is at its most daunting.
Written by award-winning teenage fiction writer Steve Tasane (‘Child I’, ‘Blood Donors’), Ten in the Bed sensitively explores the child refugee experience, where the power of invention offers an escape from reality.
Framed by an evocative soundscape, it is the latest exhilarating production for 3-8s from Half Moon, the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company.

One bench, two people, and five days.
Through music, movement, and mishap, two young people experience the difficulty and joy in connecting with those unlike themselves.
Rhythm is spontaneous and experiences life as movement; and all sound as music. Glas loves life smooth and stable; preferring things remain the same. When Rhythm and Glas meet at Bellevue Park they have the five days of half-term to see if their friendship is worth keeping, before they go back to their separate schools.
Will they find a way to create something remarkable and discover a rhythm that is theirs alone?
Remarkable Rhythm is a dance theatre show for young people 7-12 and their families. With integrated audio description by the two dancers, this show is accessible to audiences who are blind or partially sighted and the physical storyline is visually clear so allows D/deaf audiences the ability to also experience every show fully.

A heart-warming allegory of friendship and re-engagement with a post-pandemic world. Two individuals meet, tentatively at first and, building trust, they navigate the highs and lows of their journey. Using willow as their only resource, they explore sound and movement, creating magic and laughter, until finally, coming full-circle, they invite the audience in to play.
A non-verbal dance-theatre show for early years children, using a set design and props made almost entirely from willow, a fully compostable, carbon-sink material.

Remarkable Rhythm is a dance theatre show for young people 7+ and their families. With integrated audio description by the two dancers, this show is accessible to audiences who are blind or partially sighted and the physical storyline is visually clear so allows Deaf audiences the ability to also experience every show fully.

Laugh-out-loud comedy for Hairies aged 5+ years and their families.
Meet Hairnry.
He’s a follicle, and one in a million.
Hairnry arrives at Hairy Mission Control with big dreams - to be Head Hair. He’s done his time being a toe hair, a knee hair, even a solitary mole hair! But is he ready to move to the top job?
His three follicle friends are on hand to put him through his paces and make sure he’s ready to be a Super-Hairo.
Hair is amazing. It can be styled, waxed, fashioned, jheri-curled, dreadlocked and shorn! Hair can be striking, funny, scary, surprising, gorgeous and greasy! Long, short, curly, straight, thick, thin - it’s everywhere.
Will they survive a shaving by the demon Barbers of De-Ville? Will they be able to defeat Major General Nit and his nitwit army from taking over the world? Perhaps… with the help of their slippery new invention, the Large Hedrin Collider?
Hairy is the first show created especially for young people by Spymonkey, the UK’s most hair-larious comedy theatre company. There will be screams of laughter. Slippery shampoo. Falling over. Trying to stand up again. Falling over some more. And some great songs too.
A show with original songs, dance, puppetry and bold visual comedy, let loose and join in the mayhem. One thing is for sure: It’s going to get HAIRY!

determined to stay awake and see what day light brings.

A show with few words and bold visual comedy, let loose and join in the mayhem. One thing is for sure: It’s going to get HAIRY!

Polka is one of the few theatres in the UK dedicated exclusively to children. Based in Wimbledon since 1979, Polka creates world-class theatre to entertain and inspire young audiences.
Over 90,000 children visit Polka every year to experience engaging, fun and exciting theatre, often for the first time. We strive to spark the imagination, stir emotions and fuel a sense of discovery in all children.
There’s always space at Polka to play, laugh, discover and create. Our welcoming theatre is home to a friendly café, playground, garden and a fun-filled foyer with toys, books, dressing up and colouring in. It’s a unique, magical place where you can share a special moment with your child.
Creative programming keeps Polka’s work fresh and relevant. Over two spaces, the Adventure Theatre and Main Stage, young audiences can expect new plays, dynamic performers, resonant subjects and inventive adaptations of popular stories.
Learning and participation are at the heart of Polka’s work, encouraging children to explore and develop creatively. We offer opportunities for all children, regardless of age, ability, culture or background, to engage in the arts through a regular programme of holiday workshops, term-time groups, after-show events, free storytelling and workshops that take Polka into the community. Schools visiting the theatre can benefit from online free resource packs and show-related workshops.
Polka is first and foremost a local theatre, loved by the people of Wimbledon, South London and the wider community, but enjoys an international reputation, known throughout the world as a pioneer of theatre for children, consistently setting the standard and raising audiences' expectations.
