One bench, two people, and five days.
Through music, movement, and mishap, two young people experience the difficulty and joy in connecting with those unlike themselves.
Rhythm is spontaneous and experiences life as movement; and all sound as music. Glas loves life smooth and stable; preferring things remain the same. When Rhythm and Glas meet at Bellevue park they have the five days of half-term to see if their friendship is worth keeping, before they go back to their separate schools.
Will they find a way to create something remarkable and discover a rhythm that is theirs alone?
Remarkable Rhythm is a dance theatre show for young people 7+ and their families. With integrated audio description by the two dancers, this show is accessible to audiences who are blind or partially sighted and the physical storyline is visually clear so allows Deaf audiences the ability to also experience every show fully.

World-famous Shakespearean Professor, Nick Bottom, is about to present his talk on A Midsummer Night’s Dream – but there is a technical problem. Professor Bottom’s laptop cannot contain the magical forces at play and the sprites in the software want to tell the story in their own words.
Nick makes an ass of himself, and we are drawn into a timeless world of love, fairies, and ridiculousness in Norwich Puppet Theatre’s sideways take on Shakespeare’s classic play. Beautiful shadow imagery inspired by Ancient Greek art and natural images are woven together with a musical sound tapestry created especially for this production.

Hair is amazing. It can be styled, waxed, fashioned, jheri-curled, dreadlocked and shorn! Hair can be striking, funny, scary, surprising, gorgeous and greasy! Long, short, curly, straight, thick, thin - it’s everywhere.
Will they survive a shaving by the demon Barbers of De-Ville? Will they be able to defeat Major General Nit and his nitwit army from taking over the world? Perhaps… with the help of their slippery new invention, the Large Hedrin Collider?
Hairy is the first show created especially for young people by Spymonkey, the UK’s most hair-larious comedy theatre company. There will be screams of laughter. Slippery shampoo. Falling over. Trying to stand up again. Falling over some more. And some great songs too.
A show with few words and bold visual comedy, let loose and join in the mayhem. One thing is for sure: It’s going to get HAIRY!

We’re all trying to work out our story. Who are we? How are we shaped? Sometimes you have to find the courage to be just you - the brilliant you.
Cleo is on a journey like no other. She’s trying to discover her past whilst attempting to stay on her feet in the present. Where has she been and when will she get back? Piles of clothes become sea creatures, dresses become parachutes and shadows dance as Cleo and two new friends find a place called home.
Inspired by working with young people in Kent who don’t live with their birth parents, Belongings is the story of finding your feet, finding your playmates & imagining a new future.
“I felt a sense of not being alone and like I was normal for the first time…made my heart warm.”

Visit the incredible world of Stuff and Nonsense.
Making bread is hard work, but it would be a lot easier if the lazy farmyard animals got off their reclining sofas and lent a hand! Join our plucky little hen as she finds her own way to get stuff done.
An energetic adaptation of this much-loved story, featuring a breath-taking combination of brilliant puppetry, live music and unforgettable comedy. Stuff and Nonsense are well-known for their clever, captivating storytelling, ingenious stagings and ability to make us all laugh, returning to Polka after a hugely successful run of The Gingerbread Man last year.

Based on the book by Sir Michael Morpurgo.
It is the summer of 1966. Charley and her little brother Alex are walking their dog Manfred on the beach when they notice two older men staring out to sea. A chance encounter brings them together. Slowly, Charley and Alex learn of their mother’s past, and of the friendships that can be formed in difficult circumstances. In 1945, their farmstead home was a posting for German prisoners of war, and their mother Grace was just a little girl…
The cast for this production includes serving and veteran military personnel and their family members. With stunning puppetry and original storytelling, this is an unmissable production adapted from Sir Michael Morpurgo’s much loved story.

From the incredibly silly minds behind the Olivier-nominated global hits Potted Potter and Potted Panto.Polka is one of the few theatres in the UK dedicated exclusively to children. Based in Wimbledon since 1979, Polka creates world-class theatre to entertain and inspire young audiences.
Over 90,000 children visit Polka every year to experience engaging, fun and exciting theatre, often for the first time. We strive to spark the imagination, stir emotions and fuel a sense of discovery in all children.
There’s always space at Polka to play, laugh, discover and create. Our welcoming theatre is home to a friendly café, playground, garden and a fun-filled foyer with toys, books, dressing up and colouring in. It’s a unique, magical place where you can share a special moment with your child.
Creative programming keeps Polka’s work fresh and relevant. Over two spaces, the Adventure Theatre and Main Stage, young audiences can expect new plays, dynamic performers, resonant subjects and inventive adaptations of popular stories.
Learning and participation are at the heart of Polka’s work, encouraging children to explore and develop creatively. We offer opportunities for all children, regardless of age, ability, culture or background, to engage in the arts through a regular programme of holiday workshops, term-time groups, after-show events, free storytelling and workshops that take Polka into the community. Schools visiting the theatre can benefit from online free resource packs and show-related workshops.
Polka is first and foremost a local theatre, loved by the people of Wimbledon, South London and the wider community, but enjoys an international reputation, known throughout the world as a pioneer of theatre for children, consistently setting the standard and raising audiences' expectations.
