As an MC, dancer, spoken word artist and director, Jonzi D has radically influenced the development of the hip hop dance and theatre scene over the last two decades. U.Dance on Screen is the screendance strand of the U.Dance National Festival, presented by One Dance UK. Thousands of young dancers take part in regional platforms each year and selected groups represent their home region or nation at the U.Dance National Festival. The largest event of its kind, the U.Dance National Festival 2025 is presented in partnership with Sadler’s Wells, as part of YFX Festival. The show reimagines the film based on the 1972 rock album written by Pete Townshend and recorded by The Who. Featuring sharp suits, soul music, vespas and parkas as it dives into themes of lost youth, rebellion, the search for belonging and hunger for progress. For the London performances, Matthew Ball, Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet, performed as the GODFATHER in Quadrophenia, a Mod Ballet.

The show was created by Far From The Norm - the hip hop dance theatre company artistically directed by Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Botis Seva. The work speaks to Seva’s lived experience of leadership: the unspoken pressures, the emotional weight of responsibility, and the spiritual dissonance of guiding others while seeking your own sense of purpose. Adam Cooper returns to the role of Don Lockwood when Singin’ In The Rain has London season in summer 2020
When the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Singin’ in the Rain transferred to the West End in 2012 it went on to be a hit with audiences and receive four Olivier nominations. Now it’s back for a five-week summer season at Sadler’s Wells with Adam Cooper returning to the role of Don Lockwood, made so famous by Gene Kelly in the MGM movie. We think the show will make quite a splash.
