On set of Nepenthe | Behind the scenes of a Contemporary Dance Film
Go behind the scenes with director Jordan Chandler and producer Dorothy Graham to explore the making of Nepenthe. The dancers explain the difference between making work for the screen versus the stage. ABOUT NEPENTHE Nepenthe is a surreal dance film about memory, healing and reclaiming the past through movement. Told entirely through dance, the film follows two women drifting through moments frozen in time as they attempt to rewrite painful memories from a place of empowerment. Moving between suspended domestic spaces, dreamlike forests and underground dance worlds, their journey transforms painful memories into connection, freedom and expression. Inspired by the mythical Greek remedy believed to ease sorrow, Nepenthe explores dance as release, survival and reinvention, tracing how female friendship and chosen family can help reshape the stories that define us.
