Carolyn Maitland makes her Live at Zedel cabaret debut this month with a unique social media concert creation. She performs #SongsChosenByYou, with the help of fellow #StageFaves Kieran Jae and Marsha Songcome, on Saturday 28 October 2017. (You also have a chance to win tickets and more in our new competition!)
Carolyn Maitland premieres her new cabaret show, "An Evening of Songs Chosen by You", Live at Zédel at London's renowned Crazy Coqs cabaret venue at Brasserie Zedel off Piccadilly Circus on Saturday 28 October 2017 at 9.15pm.
In true #StageFaves style, Maitland has created an evening inspired by engaging with others. A cabaret with a difference... A social media concert creation... Not one song has been chosen by Maitland herself! On Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms, the general public were encouraged to request a song they would like Maitland to sing (or reinvent) followed by the hashtag #SongsChosenByYou...
The resulting song list, revealed fully on the night, is a variety of musical theatre, pop and maybe even a hint of jazz, presented in some familiar arrangements and some not so familiar, with brand-new twists.
Maitland is joined by fellow West End stars Marsha Songcome (Hamilton, Aladdin, Miss Saigon) and Kieran Jae (Gyspy, Groundhog Day, Jersey Boys), and accompanied by musical director Kris Rawlinson, playing arrangements by Rawlinson and Noam Galperin.
Carolyn Maitland's musical theatre credits include Molly in Ghost (UK tour), Ellen in Miss Saigon (Prince Edward Theatre), Joelle in Groundhog Day (Old Vic), Rose in From Here to Eternity (Shaftesbury Theatre) and Kiss Me, Kate (Old Vic, West End & Chichester). Next month, she stars in the first revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White, playing Marian Halcome, the role originated by Maria Friedman in the 2004 premiere.
