When we tweeted a quick pic of #StageFaves on the red carpet at last night's Evening Standard Awards, little did we expect to help break an international entertainment news story. But when Lin-Manuel Miranda retweeted it, showing he and his clearly heavily pregnant wife, that's just what happened...

The #StageFaves team were happily tracking the #ESTheatreAwards hashtag as the ceremony for the 63rd annual Evening Standard Theatre Awards took place last night at the West End's Theatre Royal Drury Lane. When a red carpet photos update came through from the awards press office, we tweeted snapshots of some of the musical glitterati in attendance, including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Amber Riley (who went on to win Best Performance in a Musical for Dreamgirls) and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda (who was presenting at the event).

Miranda, presumably from his seat in the auditorium, retweeted our tweet, showing the picture of him on the red carpet with his wife, lawyer and activist Vanessa Nadal, who appears heavily pregnant, and tagging her in it...

Was she indeed pregnant? There hadn't been any previous announcement of a second child on the way for the couple. (Their first, son Sebastian Miranda, was born in November 2014). Within minutes, the tweet was attracting thousands of likes, comments and retweets, all rife with speculation. Many followers surmised that Miranda’s inclusion of the eyes emoji was proof-positive.

When a fan asked Miranda outright, the star confirmed it.

The news has subsequently been picked by the media and sparked international headlines, including from the New York Daily News, Huffington Post, the Daily Mail, People Magazine, Entertainment Tonight and the Times of India. But, don't forget, you heard it here first!

We send our very sincerest congratulations to Lin-Manuel and Vanessa!
