A grade 2★ RIBA award winning building & the oldest grand music hall in the world. Now showing exceptional #livemusic, world-class #theatre & education projects
Wilton's Music Hall is a Grade II listed building, built as a music hall and now run as a multi-arts performance space in Graces Alley, off Cable Street in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is one of very few surviving music halls and retains many original features.
Wilton's has been a producing venue since 2004. It produces imaginative, distinctive work that has roots in the early music hall tradition but reinterpreted for an audience of today, which means presenting a diverse and distinct programme including opera, puppetry, classical music, cabaret, dance, and magic. Situated at the heart of the historic East End within easy walking distance from The Tower of London, the River Thames and the City, it is a focus for theatrical and East End history, as well as a living theatre, concert hall, public bar and heritage site.
Welcome to The Monocle… where nothing is impossible…This dance production choreographed by award-winning choreographer Mathieu Geffré, reveals and celebrates the long-forgotten pioneering history of Le Monocle, the legendary 1930s Paris nightclub where glamorous lesbians dined, danced, sang and socialised without fear of persecution within its plush, secret walls. Featuring a smouldering, versatile cast of seven, including the celebrated early jazz singer Imogen Banks, this compelling work of dance, music and song will return to Wilton’s Music Hall on the 15th and 16th of May 2026.

Experience Virginia Woolf like never before in this moving, witty, and dazzingly theatrical adaptation of a modern masterpiece. Mrs Dalloway is created by award-winning director Jen Heyes and Olivier Award-winning artist Kit Green (Tina C, Ida Barr), who also transforms into all 16 roles – including that of Woolf herself.
A single day in June 1923. Upper class socialite Clarissa Dalloway travels across London as she prepares for a party she will be hosting that evening. Across town, war veteran Septimus Smith struggles against the horrors of his own experience and lost autonomy.
Friends, lovers, and enemies; daughters and sons; physicians and teachers; soldiers and clowns. As Clarissa and Septimus confront ghosts of the past and present in their separate worlds, a party brings these many dissonant lives together in a single, fragile, moment.
Fusing drama, live music, film and technical artistry into a fully immersive experience of modern cine-theatre, Mrs Dalloway invites you into Woolf’s world to ask – what makes us who we are?

“Scotland’s preeminent chanteuse” (Herald Scotland), Christine Bovill has built her reputation on the massively successful sell-out show, “Piaf”. No stranger to Wilton’s, Christine returns with a revised version of her award winning “Paris” show – Paris Revisited. (Winner of Spirit of the Fringe.)
She beckons you back to a Parisian-scented twilight world; a demi-monde of heroes, outcasts, cynics and bruised romantics. With drama, pathos and pizzazz, the show casts a sepia-tinged spotlight on the Golden Age of French Song.
Songs of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Charles Trenet, Barbara, Juliet Greco, Charles Aznavour, Francoise Hardy, Leo Ferre…. are interspersed with wonderful anecdotes from the period. Christine celebrates some of the greatest hits of the 20th century in both English and French…..the show includes My Way, What Now My Love, Autumn Leaves, La Vie En Rose, Let It Be Me, No Regrets, She, Amsterdam…

RUTH
Wed 18 Mar - Sat 28 Mar 2026
Presented by Ruth Theatre Productions in association with Cahoots Theatre Company
Sex. Class. Murder. The Ruth Ellis story had them all.
It was a sensational case that shook conventional 1950s Britain to its core – the peroxide blonde nightclub hostess who shot and killed her violent upper class lover and was sentenced to hang for the crime, making her the last woman to be executed in Britain.
Now Ruth’s compelling story is brought to the stage as a powerful new musical with moody noir visuals and an emotive score. It’s a timely tale of a woman’s struggle against a patriarchal society that resonates deeply in the era of #MeToo.
Taking in the tawdry glamour of London’s vice clubs, the thrill of the racetrack and the chilling finality of the condemned cell, Ruth traces the 28-year-old’s relationships with the men who shaped her tragically short life – her abusive father Arthur, devoted Desmond, and volatile David, who was her obsession and her undoing.
But there is one more man who will play a key role in Ruth’s fate. A mysterious stranger who visits her cell as the clock ticks ever closer to her end.

Debate: Baldwin vs Buckley
Tue 3 Feb - Sat 7 Feb 2026
The Historic 1965 Cambridge Union Debate, Reimagined
Following critically acclaimed runs in New York City, London, Chicago and Los Angeles, the american vicarious’ radically staged production of the historic debate between James Baldwin and William F. Buckley Jr. is reenacted at Wilton’s Music Hall.
The Debate
“Is The American Dream At The Expense Of The American Negro?”
This was the question on February 18, 1965, when an overflow crowd packed the Cambridge Union to witness a historic televised debate between James Baldwin — the leading literary voice of the civil rights movement — and William F. Buckley Jr., America’s most prominent conservative intellectual.
The stage was set for an extraordinary confrontation: Baldwin’s call for a moral revolution in race relations against Buckley’s defence of the American establishment. Their exchange laid bare the deep divisions at the heart of American democracy — divisions whose echoes continue to shape our present.
In restaging this debate, the american vicarious returns Baldwin and Buckley’s words to public conversation through the voices of contemporary artists. Sixty years later, the arguments remain piercing, the stakes undiminished, the questions still demanding our attention.
The Tiger Lillies - Serenade from the Sewer
Tue 28 Oct - Sat 8 Nov, 7:30pm
£13.00 – £25.50 full price | £10.50 – £23.00 concession
The legendary death-oompah band The Tiger Lillies return to Wilton’s Music Hall with a brand-new album and concert celebrating the weird, macabre and those that society has abandoned.
Olivier award-winning and Grammy nominated, The Tiger Lillies have toured the world for over 35 years and released scores of critically acclaimed albums. They have starred in some unforgettable theatre productions from their West End smash Shockheaded Peter to this year’s A Macbeth Song which ran from three months in Barcelona.
Armed with a brand-new album, telling the stories of those on the margins of society, they will also perform fan favourites and songs celebrating the spooky season based on the works of Lovecraft, Poe and more.
Lead singer and writer Martyn Jacques says:
‘A major theme of the many hundreds of songs I have written are the people living in the margins. When I moved to Soho in the 1980s I spent many hours just looking out of my window. And I watched the drug dealers and the prostitutes and the drug addicts and the gangsters. And I learned what they did and why they did it. It wasn’t always as straightforward as you might imagine. But it was before the yuppies arrived. Serenade from the Sewer presents some memories of that time. It was a happy time for me. But it was tragic for many of the people I knew and watched from my window.’
‘Martyn Jacques is a charismatic focus. Trudging between his piano and accordion like a man weighed down by supernatural dread – yet his voice is a molten cascade. The execution is impeccable throughout. Phenomenal.’ ★★★★★ The Guardian
‘It’s not surprising that their cult following is worldwide – a Tiger Lillies gig is a journey into wild emotion which passes right through melodrama and out the other side into bizarre beauty.’ London Evening Standard
Tue 10 - Sat 21 Jun

Starring our titular character, Potty! A singing, talking, tap dancing, potted plant.
When mysterious events begin to occur at Little Boo Boo’s General Hospital, a ragtag bunch of dysfunctional nurses must pull together to save the day. What could be happening to all the missing children? Will the beautiful Miss Lacey ever find true love? Is there more to the nasty-looking Dr. Acula than meets the eye?
Potty The Plant is an hour of side-splitting, earwormy, musical fun, that begs the audience to not take anything too seriously.

Ukulele-strumming cabaret star Tricity Vogue fronts a swinging line-up of jazz musicians serving up vintage music with modern energy – cheeky, sunny, stomping tunes from an all-female ensemble with bags of talent and irrepressible charm.
Let Tricity take you back to the original swinging London of 100 years ago. Melodic good-time music filled the dance floors with compulsive rhythms… despite public outcry against the bad influence of this “riotous” new jazz from America. But the tunes turned out by Tricity’s band are strikingly familiar: seventies disco, eighties electro-pop, nineties dance, or noughties rock, transformed with a sprinkle of syncopation. A new/old style for anyone with an offbeat taste in music.
Joining Tricity Vogue in top hats and tailcoats will be trumpeter Becca Toft, leading a three-part horn section with Alyson Cawley on tenor saxophone and Stephanie Dyer on trombone. Pianist Andrea Vicari, guitarist Emily O’Hara, double bassist Amy Baldwin and drummer Michèle Drees make up the rhythm section. An alternative ‘girl band’ of grown-up musicians whose playing will knock your socks off.

Revenge, suspicion and family intrigue light up the stage in this powerful, concise version of perhaps Shakespeare’s most personal play.
Starring Mark Lockyer, thought by many to be one of the finest classical actors of his generation, as all the characters, this stunning new production ‘leaves the watcher utterly spellbound’ (Rufus Norris).
Hamlet suspects his uncle of killing his father, he feels abandoned by his mother, and confused by his feelings of obligation as prince whilst still a young man in love.
Without the usual accoutrements of complex set, costumes and other actors the play – and Shakespeare’s words – truly sing.
Expertly edited to 90 minutes straight through whilst losing none of the plot, characters or treasured quotes, in this version the Play really is the Thing.
Presented by Pilot Theatre and Hull Truck Theatre

We chat to the cast of Frank's Closet and have a sneak peek behind the scenes.
Frank's Closet runs at Wilton's, 3-14 September.
https://wiltons.org.uk/whatson/899-frank-s-closet
Meet Frank. A soon-to-be groom with a closet full of frocks. As he prepares to marry his beloved partner Alan, it’s time to make space in the wardrobe and donate his fabulous collection of iconic diva dresses to the V&A. If only he could part with them…
Through the magical portal of his closet door, Frank retreats into a fantasy world where he is The Chairman of The Music Hall. Each diva visits him in turn, delivering a musical number (what else?) containing a gem of good - or at least well intentioned - advice. Mix in a quartet of dancing Gaiety Girls and glorious songs that straddle the British, Broadway (and Swedish) songbooks – and you have Frank’s Closet. But will frocks or fiancé ultimately triumph?
Having achieved cult status during its sell-out run at The Union theatre earlier in the year, Frank’s Closet returns to its music hall roots at Wilton’s. A joyous, warm hearted celebration of camp that will chime with anyone who’s ever felt torn between fantasy, responsibility and being yourself.

Mark Farrelly presents Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope
Mark Farrelly (Jarman) brings his hugely-acclaimed solo play to Wilton's Music Hall for an up-close encounter with the original Englishman in New York.
From a conventional upbringing to global notoriety via The Naked Civil Servant, Quentin Crisp was one of the most memorable figures of the twentieth century. Openly gay as early as the 1930s, Quentin spent decades being beaten up on London’s streets for refusing to be anything less than himself. His courage, and the philosophy that evolved from those experiences, inspire to the present day.
Naked Hope depicts Quentin at two phases of his extraordinary life: alone in his Chelsea flat in the 1960s, certain that life has passed him by, and thirty years later, performing An Evening with Quentin Crisp in New York. Packed with witty gems on everything from cleaning (“Don’t bother – after the first four years the dust won’t get any worse”) to marriage (“Is there life after marriage? The answer is no”), Naked Hope is a glorious, uplifting celebration of the urgent necessity to be your true self.
Written and performed by Mark Farrelly
Directed by Linda Marlowe

Co-created and directed by Zack Winokur, with music supervision by Thomas Bartlett, arrangements by Nico Muhly, musical direction by Daniel Schlosberg, and costume design by JW Anderson, Only an Octave Apart celebrates the historical and the hysterical, from countertenor to counterculture.

A Dead Body In Taos, a new play by David Farr, presented by Fuel.
Sam hasn’t spoken to her mother Kath for three years when she learns that she’s been found dead in the New Mexico desert. Travelling to the small town of Taos to identify the body, she discovers Kath has become embroiled in a shadowy enterprise, offering Sam an unimaginable chance to rebuild their broken relationship. But to do so, she must decide whether she can finish what her mother started.
Directed by Rachel Bagshaw (The Shape of the Pain, Midnight Movie), designed by Ti Green (Touching the Void), and featuring original composition by Ben and Max Ringham (Blindness, Electric Hotel), David Farr’s compelling new play is both an unsettling science fiction and an intimate study of loss and bereavement, examining how artificial intelligence could alter our understanding of death, consciousness, and the soul.
A Dead Body in Taos includes fully integrated captioning as part of every performance.
