Surely we are not heading towards awards season yet again? We had better hurry up then and check out the musical theatre nominees in this year’s UK Theatre Awards. Who will you be rooting for?
When the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Singin’ in the Rain transferred to the West End in 2012 it went on to be a hit with audiences and receive four Olivier nominations. Now it’s back for a five-week summer season at Sadler’s Wells with Adam Cooper returning to the role of Don Lockwood, made so famous by Gene Kelly in the MGM movie. We think the show will make quite a splash.
Did you hear that Bronté Barbé, Isaac Gryn, Emmanuel Kojo and Scott Karim will be joining the company of Oklahoma! at Chichester Festival Theatre from 15 July to 7 September 2019, playing the roles of Ado Annie, Will Parker, Jud and Ali Hakim. Sounds like a beautiful day to us.
A soulful The Shining? An a cappella Avengers? A Sondheim-esque Stand By Me? We don't know the shows being created in these images of Notflix, but they look awesome. Have a peek for yourselves, then book your tickets!
There’s something old and something new when it comes to the musicals lined up for Chichester Festival Theatre’s Festival 2019 and just look at the casting. There’s the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Oklahoma! starring Josie Lawrence as Aunt Eller alongside Hyoie O’Grady and Amara Okereke (Les Misérables) as Curly and Laurey. Plus Tim Firth’s first original solo musical This Is My Family features the talents of James Nesbitt, Sheila Hancock and Clare Burt. Bring on the summer…
Olivier Award-winning actress Sharon D. Clarke will reprise her five-star performance as Caroline Thibodeaux when the musical transfers to the Playhouse Theatre in November 2018.
