Emily Carewe in Miracle on 34th Street

In MIRACLE ON 34th STREET, adapted from the classic film, children tell Macy's Santa Claus, who just happens to be the real Kris Kringle, what they want for Christmas? We had to find out from the cast of this festival musical radio play what they'd ask for too. They also share their favourite Christmas songs and holiday memories. Be sure to check out the show's #StageFaves page for more show photography and full social media from the theatre and the cast.

MIRACLE ON 34th STREET runs at south London's Bridge House Theatre in Penge until 23 December 2017.

RICHARD ALBRECHT (Kris Kringle)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: In a family swimming pool in Australia with my 8-month-old, it was over 30 degrees and before we knew it,  our solitude was invaded by all the neighbours jumping in as it was so hot!
  • Favourite Christmas Song: Happy Xmas (War is Over).
  • Ideal Gift From Kris Kringle: Winning Lottery ticket.

EMILY CAREWE (Susan Walker/Miss Grace Attlee)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: The year my grandad decided to hang his own beef for 2 weeks leading up to Christmas and tried to feed it to us, despite the green mould all over it. I must have been at least 20.
  • Favourite Christmas Song: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
  • Ideal Gift From Kris Kringle: The Crystal Palace dinosaur islands in my back garden.

ELLIS DACKOMBE (Fred Gailey/ Daniel Williamson)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: Was the day I worked at my local pub for Christmas day lunch. Looking after people and serving made me feel extra Christmassy, I was giving and being selfless (and getting paid more) which is what Christmas is all about. We all got very drunk afterwards and had a lot of food and I still spent the evening with my family. It was a lovely day.
  • Favourite Christmas Song: It has to be Mariah Carey All I want for Christmas.
  • Ideal Gift From Kris Kringle: A house in London. I don’t think that’s too much to wish for.

LOWENNA MELROSE (Doris Walker/ Miss Sylvia Thornberry)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: Laughing with my cousin Ben and grandma whilst playing Monopoly. Ben and I used to invent the rules because she didn’t know how to play, but she didn’t care- she just laughed along and let us have our fun. She was the best sport!
  • Favourite Christmas Song: The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole Version)
  • Ideal Gift from Kris Kringle: 100% of energy renewable by 2020. Or a pooch! (Preferably a fluffy one.)

LEWIS RAE (Male Character Actor / Mr Albert Bacon)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: At the age of six finding wooden penguins with a personal note from Santa
  • Favourite Christmas Song: In The Bleak Midwinter
  • Ideal Gift from Kris Kringle: To be able to speak once more to a friend I lost this year.

AMY REITSMA (Female Character Actress / Miss Olivia Randall)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: Playing endless hours of games with the ornaments on our Christmas trees with my sisters whilst drinking my mom’s homemade eggnog.
  • Favourite Christmas Song: Santa Baby
  • Ideal Gift from Kris Kringle: A Puppy!

JAMIE ROSS (Announcer / Director of Music)

  • Favourite Christmas Memory: Slamming shots of vodka with my Gran after a school trip to Russia left me with a one or two spare bottles to use up. I was 16 and she was 70!
  • Favourite Christmas Song: Driving Home For Christmas  (Chris Rea Version).
  • Ideal Gift from Kris Kringle: Some magical socks that never wear out, as I seem to be going through a couple of pairs a week at the minute.
