The Tony Award-nominated musical Waitress from Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson has its West End premiere at the Adelphi Theatre in February 2019, bringing an all-female creative team – a West End musical first – along in the process. Joining Tim Howar, who plays the title role in the London production of The Phantom of the Opera for an initial run from 3 September to 8 December 2018, are Kimberly Blake as Carlotta Giudicelli and Ross Dawes as Monsieur Firmin.

While eyes were on SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical and Mean Girls, which had received 12 nominations each, it was actually David Yazbek and Itamar Moses’ intimate musical The Band’s Visit which took home 10 prizes, including Best Musical, at the Tony Awards 2018.
