An unexpected hit when it originally opened on Broadway, COME FROM AWAY has flown the coop, finally landing in London's West End. Needless to say, this heartwarming new musical about the triumph of humanity in the face of tremendous evil stole the hearts of UK audiences as much as across the Atlantic. Nominated for a series of the biggest honours at this year's Olivier Awards, fans and critics alike would no doubt love to see it scoop some accolades. After much-anticipation actors Sheila Atim and Giles Terera announced the nominations for the Olivier Awards 2019 today and it wasn’t long before the celebrations began for two West End musicals in particular. The acclaimed gender-bending revival of Sondheim’s Company and powerful Canadian show Come From Away are recognised in nine categories each. The King and I and the Queens of Six The Musical are close behind with six and five nominations respectively. Who do you think will come out top on the night?

On the day that Denise Van Outen was due to start rehearsals as Velma Kelly in Chicago at the Phoenix Theatre, it was discovered that she had suffered a stress fracture in her heel. Her replacement will be announced shortly as will dates for Van Outen’s return to the show.

It’s a role Duncan James originally played in 2008 and now he is back in the courtroom (or Phoenix Theatre) joining Alexandra Burke, Josefina Gabrielle, Mazz Murray and Paul Rider in Chicago from 10 September 2018.

We haven't stopped talking about COME FROM AWAY since it was announced that the show will be coming to the UK in early 2019 so it just felt right to choose a song of the week from this fab show! "Me and the Sky" tells the fantastic (and true!) tale of Beverley Bass, who led the first all-female crew in the history of commercial jet aviation.
