There aren't many musicals you could call a true classic, but ANNIE is certainly one of those select few. The heartwarming story of the little ginger orphan in 1930's New York who won the heart of a billionaire - and an entire nation! - against all odds, has earned its place in Musical Theatre history. It's always a gamble though, when a show is so well loved, to bring in a revival, especially starring someone who's never been on the West End before... But tread those boards she did, and Miranda Hart has proven herself as a true #StageFave! And guess what...the critics are raving!
In recent years, the world of musical theatre has received an extra dose of LOLs with well-known comedians taking to the stage and appearing to take the new challenge in their stride. With Miranda Hart coming into the role of Miss Hannigan in the new production of much loved musical Annie opening soon at the Piccadilly Theatre, and with her name plastered across the advertising, Becky Wallis from the Musical Theatre Appreciation Society asks if comics can really make it work on the West End...

Oh what a sad night. The New York production of JERSEY BOYS, which tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, recently announced that it will be closing in January after more than 11 years on Broadway. And now the London production has confirmed that it will follow suit, closing in March after nine years in the West End...

Ready to be blown away? High-camp cult musical MOBY DICK! - not seen in London since its brief run at the West End's Piccadilly Theatre in 1992 - returns to London in the autumn. The musical is about a group of girls who stages a musical version of Moby Dick to raise money to keep their school open. Bonus fun: If you turn up at the Union Theatre in school uniform, you get a front-row seat and a part in the show! How's that for a whale of a time?

JERSEY BOYS has extended its booking period at the West End's Piccadilly Theatre until 16 April 2017, with 250,000 tickets released today. JERSEY BOYS currently stars Matt Corner as Frankie Valli, Declan Egan as Bob Gaudio, Simon Bailey as Tommy DeVito and Matt Hunt as Nick Massi.
