Follies is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Goldman. The story concerns a reunion in a crumbling Broadway theatre, scheduled for demolition, of the past performers of the "Weismann's Follies", a musical revue (based on the Ziegfeld Follies), that played in that theatre between the world wars.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's iconic one-woman show returns to the big screen. In cinemas worldwide from 15 June. Find your local venue: https://fleabag.ntlive.com/
--
Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) and directed by Vicky Jones, Fleabag is a rip-roaring look at some sort of woman living her sort of life. Following a box-office record-breaking run in cinemas in 2019, the one-woman show returns to cinemas to the big screen this summer.
Fleabag may seem oversexed, emotionally unfiltered and self-obsessed, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. With family and friendships under strain and a guinea pig café struggling to keep afloat, Fleabag suddenly finds herself with nothing to lose.
The hilarious, award-winning play that inspired the BBC’s hit TV series Fleabag, was captured live on stage from London’s West End in 2019.
Presented by DryWrite, Soho Theatre and Annapurna Theatre.

A love letter to the dynamic creative forces behind the scenes at the National Theatre.
Created by our first artist in residence, Curtis Holder, these intimate, multi-layered pencil portraits capture the expertise of the theatre-makers who work here.
Holder has explored every corner of the vast backstage areas selecting people to be part of the exhibition. His subjects range from wigs, hair and make-up assistants, to prop and puppet makers, deputy ladies cutter, costume workroom trainees, technicians, and stage door supervisors.
Normally it’s their work that captivates audiences, but this exhibition puts them centre-stage and celebrates the people behind the craft.

Step into the National Theatre's Archive in this audio described video and discover the stories behind Carrie Cracknell's production of Medea, in a version by Ben Power and starring Helen McCrory.
In this audio described virtual visit to the Archive, follow our exploration and discovery of how the work of ancient Greek dramatists like Euripides can be communicated effectively through performance. We will see how items from the Archive can help explore alternative stagings and different interpretations of the play.
This video, with audio description, explains some of the conventions of Greek tragedy such the chorus, the open-air set, and costume, and delves into the practicalities of staging an ancient Greek play in a modern theatre building. We also discuss the theme of the supernatural in this particular production.
As an example of seminal world literature, Euripides' Medea has been adapted and performed on almost every continent. Going behind the scenes of the productions lets us ask fresh questions about why these plays and their myths are still relevant today. Looking at these texts in performance also allows us to unlock new interpretations of classic literature.
Director: Carrie Cracknell
Designer: Tom Scutt
Lighting Designer: Lucy Carter
Choreographer: Lucy Guerin
Music: Will Gregory & Alison Goldfrapp
Sound Designer: Gregory Clarke

Audio described version. Step into the National Theatre's Archive and discover the stories behind Polly Findlay's production of Antigone, adapted by Don Taylor and starring Christopher Eccleston and Jodie Whittaker.
In this virtual visit to the Archive, follow our exploration and discovery of how the work of ancient Greek dramatists like Sophocles can be communicated effectively through performance. We will see how items from the Archive can help explore alternative stagings and different interpretations of the play.
This video explains some of the conventions of Greek tragedy such the open-air set, the chorus, and costume and delves into the practicalities of staging an ancient Greek play in a modern theatre building. We also discuss the concept of ensemble in modern theatre practice, and in this production.
As an example of seminal world literature, Sophocles' Antigone has been adapted and performed on almost every continent. Going behind the scenes of the productions lets us ask fresh questions about why these plays and their myths are still relevant today. Looking at these texts in performance also allows us to unlock new interpretations of classic literature.

For background detail on Greek theatre productions at the National theatre, see our online exhibit: https://artsandculture.google.com/story/owVxhnC0PB0A8A
The film features Dr Lucy Jackson, Assistant Professor in ancient Greek literature at Durham University and Erin Lee, Head of Archive at the National Theatre, London.
The film was funded by Durham University and made by the National Theatre.
