A Doctor and a Queen, namely Waitress’ Gavin Creel and Six The Musical’s Alexia McIntosh, were on hand today to announce the 2020 Olivier Awards nominations, just a month before the ceremony takes place on 5 April at the Royal Albert Hall. So now the celebrations have begun, particularly in the & Juliet, Fiddler On The Roof, Dear Evan Hansen and Mary Poppins camps, all of which have received plenty of love from the nominating panel. In some amazing #StageFaves news, the ENO have announced that their next musical theatre production will be the first major West End revival of CHESS in over 30 years. The original production starred Elaine Paige and Murray Head, the 2008 Royal Albert Hall concert featured Idina Menzel and Kerry Ellis, and previous musicals here have attracted the likes of Alfie Boe and Glenn Close - which of your #StagesFaves would you like to see in this new revival?
We've known our Mack and our Mabel for a while, but the London Musical Theatre Orchestra have now announced the full cast for the one-night-only concert at the Hacknew Empire on 23 September 2017. New cast members have joined the company of Olivier Award-winning musical In The Heights this week: Christine Allado (From Here to Eternity, Here Lies Love) as Vanessa, Norma Atallah (The Sound of Music - Live) as Abuela and Jonathan Bishop (The Lion King) as Graffiti Pete (from 15 April). Kimmy Edwards (Memphis, Hairspray) will join the ensemble and Ryan Reid (Shrek The Musical) will join as swing.

Amongst the nominated musicals, the big winners at the 2016 #OlivierAwards were Gypsy, Kinky Boots and In the Heights. Sadly, Guys and Dolls, Mrs Henderson Presents, Bend It Like Beckham and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers all went home empty-handed.
